Nolan Bright was an Actuarial Analyst at Willis Towers Watson in St. Louis during the summer of 2020
How did you get your internship?
I was first introduced to Willis Towers Watson when Travis Winkle came and spoke to the members of SATSU (Society of Actuaries at Truman Stated University). After the presentation there was a great opportunity to talk to Travis and give him my resume. Travis happened to be the manager of the office, so this was a fantastic opportunity to make an impression that led to an interview.
What sorts of things did you do during your internship?
During the internship, which was moved online, there was plenty of professional development where I got to learn about what actuaries do everyday and what type of company Willis Towers Watson is. This professional development took place via company wide video conferences. It was a great way to meet other interns from across the country. In addition to the professional development, I worked on actual projects for actual clients. I even had the opportunity to sit in on multiple client calls for projects that I was working on and meet the client.
How did you benefit from the internship?
This internship was an awesome experience to meet great people, learn what an actuary does, and more specifically, learn if it is really something I want to do (the answer is yes).
