James Weindel completed an internship with Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) in Chesterfield, MO in both the summer of 2022 and 2023.
How did you get your internship?
I obtained my internship through networking. My uncle had worked for RGA in a closely related department to the Joint Venture Equity Real Estate Team and knew they were looking for an intern. So, he got me an interview for the position.
What sorts of things did you do during your internship?
For my internship, I did a lot of financial analysis in excel. This included spreading operating statements, rent rolls, analyzing acquisition and disposition summaries for deals, sitting in on calls with business partners, and educating myself in the world/language of Real Estate.
How did you benefit from the internship?
I gained an immense amount of skill in excel and my ability to analyze financials. I also learned a lot about how to conduct myself in a corporate setting.
