Breianna Klein was an Analyst Intern at WTW in St. Louis, MO during the summer of 2023.
How did you get your internship?
I got my internship opportunity from a faculty member at Truman. As an actuary minor, I am on a list of students who receive emails and opportunities from Dr. Smith. He sent out this opportunity with WTW and I applied as quickly as possible.
What sort of things did you do during your internship?
I spent the first half of my internship learning the lingo and completing data scrubbing and manipulation. This was to help my team complete Incurred But Not Reported work (IBNRs), pricing for 2023 and 2024, and premiums for 2024. As the summer progressed, I got to work more with WTW tools completing the pricing, reserving, and premiums for clients. This also included preparing decks to go out to clients and sitting in on client meetings.
How did you benefit from the internship?
I benefited by being taught real-world experience by colleagues who have been through and are at all stages of their full-time careers. I was able to network and develop skills in the insurance industry alongside students who are my age. These experiences helped me to narrow down what I would like to do after I graduate. I am excited to say I will be starting a full-time position with WTW in June 2024.
